The Anatara is an amazing hotel with the most wonderful and talented staff I have ever encountered. The mahout program at their elephant camp was amazing. Our stay at the Anatara (3 out of 16 days touring Thailand) was our favorite experience of the entire trip! We can't wait to back again!

The hotel is one of the most peaceful places you could expect to stay. Can't fault the location or feeling. Lots of nice little gifts, a daily fact card and fruit every day in the room. Nice breakfast. The Opium museum opposite the entrance is an easy walk down the hill, and a very interesting spot to spend a couple of hours. In the mornings, expect to see young elephants walking around the lobby area - awesome !
The beds are hard, and tired (so much so that the edges of the mattress curve up) - for such an expensive hotel, i think the mattresses should be renewed, or of a higher quality (like those used at Sheraton Sukhumvit in Bangkok). It was difficult to get a feather pillow. These two factors, combined with the high price ($500+ per night) have reduced my scores significantly. This hotel would be a better choice in the low season when the price is about $250+, better reflecting the comfort and service.

The staff were delightful and the general ambiance was good.
It was very expensive for what it was. The excursions were also very expensive. The two restaurants served very good food but the choice was fairly limited (Thai and Italian) if you were staying for more than one night. (We stayed for four.)

This hotel provided the most luxurious stay I have ever experienced. The exclusive amenities were top-notch, including the Spa & wellness centre, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna. The spa lounge was a relaxing retreat, and the beauty treatments were exceptional. I loved the outdoor swimming pool with a stunning view and the sun terrace with comfortable sun loungers.
Although this hotel was exceptional, the only minor issue I experienced was the limited vegetarian options on the menu. However, the chef adapted after two days and the buffet offered more veggie choices.

The setting was beautiful. The pool was rated by MSN as one of the ten best pool settings in the world, I would agree. The morning buffet was excellent and the suite was very nice with a great pool view.
Upon arrival, we upgraded to a suite. The suite was excellent except for the air conditioner. It was adequate but the weather was hot and the A/C never delivered the crisp coolness and dry air that I expected. I asked for maintenance to check it and the man said it was operating fine. We enjoyed our visit and will return if possible, I hope the A/C system is upgraded.

Staying at the beautiful resort allowed me to take in breathtaking views of the surrounding areas, including the Mekong river down below and the lush mountaintops above. The service was exceptional, with staff who went out of their way to make sure every need was met. The breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the stunning vistas, was a highlight of my stay.
The relatively high prices of food and activities within the resort.
